It's coooold...

Ok, so whose idea was it to have 20 degree weather?! Alright, aside from the fact that it IS november, it's a little too chilly to work in. Up in Grangeville, on the mountain top, it reached 24F with a wind chill of 11F and it was blowing at 14mph. I, wearing no gloves, felt sorrier for my dad, who was on top of the 100ft metal tower in the freezing cold and wind. SO glad that operation went smoothly!
Any of you feel like sharing cold weather stories? It's that time of year...

  1. Brrrr...
I know... and the snow's supposed to come like, tomorrow. Or something like that. :D
    Cold weather stories? Oh yes!!
    1. Date: Novemberish 1996.
Mistake no. 1: Thinking it was a good idea to move to Rapid City, South Dakota.
Mistake no. 2: Moving to Rapid City, South Dakota.
The day we moved there is was 67 degrees below zero, with a wind chill of about 20 degrees.
We moved 2 years later. :D

    Scenario 2:
    Date: January 17, 2010
Location: Bottom of a 1000 ft canyon in shadow. Dead animals everywhere. No gun. One Horse. No gloves. One jacket. Sun Sets. Gets Dark. Decide that riding a horse in 15 degree weather to the bottom of a canyon in the dark with no weapon was a bad idea.

    Well? I'm alive aren't I?

    :D

So There's my story! I'm glad I don't have to climb to the top of a pole! But happy everything went well!

  2. Wow, so the south dekota story definetly wins! 67 below? BRRR!
    Ahem: Tower. Not pole... :D
Yeah, according to statistics, tower climbers have the most dangerous job in the world, surpassing even the soldier. If you go by numbers, more loggers die each year, but by percentage, tower climbers. Scary....
