UPDATE August-September 2013

Good day!

I know, I know...I haven't written anything in a while...well, I actually have, but I haven't posted anything...
Remember when i said I'd be posting my experience at Inspire Conference? I am ALMOST done with that...it's just taking longer than I thought(You know...2 months...).
To be honest, I'm not sure if I WILL post it...it all depends on timing really. That and other stuff.

So lately, work has been picking up the pace, you know, only a little....(I actually mean a LOT).
I have been installing mobile radios in fire engines all of the region as well as installing base stations for city halls, ambulance sheds, fire stations, etc. so I've been traveling a lot.

Besides that, I FINALLY have my studio/office/etc set up! It WAS my bedroom but it has no bed and it serves more of a purpose as an office so its my OFFICE. And I like it that way.
Here are pictures...however horrible.

So yeah, I'll probably work on my Inspire post this Friday when I'm on the plane...(I'll explain soon!)

Later!

Headcount!

Good evening y'all! This will be a very short post(or so I say...), I just want to see how many consistent readers I have. I know some of you are probably thinking "I'm not telling this guy that i read his blog! That would be weird...". Well, guess what, I know that in however many years I've had this blog, I have had 1003 views as of this morning. So I know you are out there! :) And THANK YOU so much for reading or just skimming through. At least you came. :)

Anyway, I just wanted as many of you who consistently read my blog to let me know in the comments below so I know if I'm reaching anyone. If I'm not, I may write less(if even possible) to concentrate on my music...if there are a few of you, I'll write more. The more who read, the more I'll write. Sound fair? I hope so.

So in a summary that could have been thrown in at the BEGINNING of this post, I just want to get an idea of how much I need to write down the road.

Let yourselves be heard, people! :)

Goodnight, its time for me to vamoose. Dinner calls. Can't resist, won't resist. Don't try and convince me. It's FOOD for goodness sake....goodnight...

Distractions, distractions everywhere.

So this morning I receive a subscription email from a wonderful blog called Scribing The Journey. I subscribed a while back after reading Duanes'(the author) blog entry about how he still drinks Starbucks coffee even though Starbucks apparently supports gay marriage. It was very good, you can check it out here.

His blog post this morning however was something that I had been needing to read for a very very long time.
It focuses on how technology has become an enormous distraction and how we spend too much time on devices such as cell phones and also what kind of effect its having on us. You can find that post here.

When i started reading it I started to see patterns in my life compared to this. I do the same thing. I've actually gotten good at texting while people are talking to me(standing in front of me, sitting with me etc) and I didn't even realize I was doing it. For me, it was a subconscious way of compressing what I needed to do in a shorter amount of time. I'm very OCD and organized as well as a little weird about efficiency. I like the idea of being quick and productive. Get it done and get it done right in an organized protocol based manner.
I only realized last night that it's extremely rude. The people around me are trying to talk to me face to face and expect my full attention, as they should be! Its a serious problem. A text can wait. And if it's from your mom or someone else equally important, all you have to do is say, "Hold on just one moment, my ___ needs me" and proceed.
And yes there is a difference between someone calling you and someone texting you. A call is about 80% more important to take. A text is low priority. I don't know what you all do, but I never reject a call unless its a known sales call. You never know, it could be an emergency.

So anyway, that's my mini-rant...and yes I do mean mini. I could seriously write a book on worldly distractions and the negative effects they have on humanity and Christians as a whole.

But I'm finished now, so enjoy Duane Scotts' blog and I hope you got something out of reading his material. :)
Remember! God is KING and the only one we should praise EVER.

Have a blessed evening!

Projects and stuff!

Greetings all of you wonderful people!
The past few weeks have been extraordinarily busy for me, as you may have noticed(seeing as I haven't posted anything in a long time...), but I hope to make time for more posts soon. Like say...once every two weeks? Once a week? I have yet to decide how committed I wish to be. ;)

Anyways, I came here to update you all on whats going on, whats happening.

As you may or may not know, I am a HUGE Doctor Who fan....wait...I just realized that some of you may not have seen the finale for this season...gah...ok..no spoilers, I promise...however...(begin twitching and rant face) MOFFFAAAAAAAT!!!! Ok ok...to be fair, it was an excellent episode that answered a bunch of questions and asked a lot of new ones...my reaction at the end was something like this...
Pretty accurate actually...and now we have to wait until November 23rd for the continuation....

Anyway, enough Doctor Who for now...(dodges thrown objects and screaming fans)

Update number two! My studio is almost finished! I still have one more piece of construction(the other half of my work bench) and then its all a matter of getting equipment organized and powered. I must tell you, I am very very VERY excited about this. A fellow artist and i worked together on a piece last month with my equipment and I'm happy to say that it works nicely. :) If you want to hear that piece, here is a good place: https://soundcloud.com/servodomini/the-last-first-time
Hope you enjoy it. :)
So I decided to run a battery diagnostic on my phone this morning...I didn't know it played elevator music...and now I have endure it for another hour and a half...or something...GAH! Just looked, make that 2 hours. Oh well, technology...

As for writing, I have nothing new for you guys, sorry. :/ I simply haven't organized my time well enough for that...soon I'm going to learn how to do that...schedule every minute of my life...sounds interesting...lets give it a shot...I know I said something about a late 2015 finish date on my book...but I don't think thats gonna happen. My book has been pushed to the spot of HobbyThatWhenIHaveTimeForItI'llWorkOnIt...sadly...but that could change one day. :)

Alright, time for me to sign off! I hope all two of you enjoyed this century's post! ;)
Oh wow, I hope there are more than two of you!

Some more Doctor Who stuff...that's actually hanging on my wall right now!

Farewell you lot!

Summer TIME.

Greetings!
Summer is just about upon us and I am SO not ready for it. Well, let me rephrase that...I'm not prepared. Heck, I'm READY, I'm just not...ready...

Anyway, the sun decided to make an appearance recently, about a week ago to be somewhat precise. People have already started talking about how they miss summer and how they can't wait for it to be here. And already, they have started their summer reading AND writing...

As a matter of fact, a fellow Blogger has sent me material to analyze....have I analyzed it yet? No....heh. Sorry! I'll get right on that. ASAP. Heh.

Currently, I'm sitting here at the local park, just enjoying my afternoon off. I took some pictures which I...hmm...won't be able to post because my phone hasn't synced with my laptop yet...ANYWAY, I'll post the ones from Sunday. I took a much needed walk. Man, I'm telling you, it was beautiful. The creek is running full of snow water from the mountains, the grass is green from said water, its all so BEAUTIFUL. Because God made it. He made everything and it shows.

And once again, I am interrupted. I must fly!

Have a blessed evening!!

Combustible vans.

Everyone has those days where they look out the window and see a van engulfed in flames....well, maybe not...but I did yesterday!

Ok let me start from the beginning. I was helping a customer, when suddenly a van pulled onto the curb outside our office building. After the driver got out and started walking hastily towards our building, I started to worry about what might be happening. When the driver got to the building, she told us that she thought the car was on fire. I waited for a few seconds, and saw smoke starting to seep out from under the hood. The smoke got worse, so I dialed 911 to get a fire truck out asap. Halfway through the phone call, sparks started dropping from the engine block and a few seconds later, flames shot out from under the hood. I reported these facts and hung up to go get a fire extinguisher from the back.
An EMT had made it on scene and took the extinguisher from me to go and slow down the fire.

Once the trucks got there, they made short work of whatever flames were left.

Here are some photos of the highlight of my week!

Quite a chaotic event! Thank God no one was hurt.

What is Procrastination?

The act of procrastination has been written about by many in the world, and today I shall follow those ranks, to help you understand better who I am.

I am....a procrastinator. If you consistently read my blog, you know I had plans to write a post about labeling society....about 2 weeks ago. Did I write that post? No. Did I want to? Yes. Why didn't I write it? I 'got busy' and 'didn't have time'.
Let me tell you something Past Self: If you want something to happen, you MAKE it happen. It won't happen all by itself. So instead of writing about how you meant to do something(which is so appealing so often...), why don't you sit down and really apply yourself?

Ok...now that I'm finished talking to myself...lets see if we can work out what good ol' procrastination is.
When we really want to do something...but are just too...LAZY(that's it, right there folks) to put our plans into action...or are afraid of change and afraid of the possible outcome, thats when you get procrastination. It really is lovely....NOT.
And sitting here writing this instead of working...well I realized I have a ways to go...signing off now, I bid thee farewell!!

Life Update and Future Ambitions.

 UPDATE:
If you read my other blog( http://starwarsmusicnotes.blogspot.com/ ) you know I was sick last week. If you don't....hey guess what! I was sick last week.
It started the day after I got back from skiing at Brundage Mountain and got worse the day after that. I ended up rupturing my left eardrum and losing most of my hearing. FUN. The only upside is I can now hear every change my heart makes.
Other than that, I'm going back to Brundage in two days(This Friday) and I'm going to have a blast.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I know that when people say "I'm setting myself a goal(s) and I'm going to do it this time!!", it sometimes never happens...but I have a goal. Several goals actually.

Lets start with the more important ones.

#1: Be a better brother/son/friend. Lately I've been having stress issues and I've let it effect my relationships. Thats going to change. I took my first step this morning, and I shall continue to make steps in the right direction. Lotsa prayer in that.

#2: Work harder. I'm a 'do it at my own pace' person, and that needs to change. My work ethic is ok, but my actual... work isn't what it should be. When I'm AT work, I'm too slow. Things are going to be different in my office.

#3: Save up for and travel to CES 2014 next January. Its been a dream of mine and I am going to make it happen.

#4: Finish the first draft of my full length novel by the end of 2014. Yeah...long time to finish a first draft...BUT I don't always have time to write. Plus this allows me to get more done than just the first draft, so I will exceed the goal. ;D

That's all I have for now, but it's a good start.

You may be wondering how I will accomplish all of this...well, prayer has a lot to do with it. Faith, motivation, etc. ALL of it comes from God. He built my personality and who I am as a person so I shall honor His 'people making' decisions by making my life the way He wants it.

I NEED to do this. I have never really been one to finish large goals 100%....until now. NOW, this will happen. It HAS to.

Do any of you have any goals to share? The comment thread should be open for posting. I'd love to hear from you!

Anyway, work is starting and I have a goal/promise to keep!

Have a blessed day!!
